Under the stewardship of new manager Xabi Alonso, Chelsea are preparing to facilitate their first outgoing transfer of the summer window. According to reports from BBC Sport, the London club is amenable to parting ways with goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who has expressed a strong desire for a fresh start away from Stamford Bridge.
Jorgensen arrived at Chelsea from Villarreal two seasons ago with hopes of challenging Robert Sanchez for the starting role. However, the 24-year-old Danish shot-stopper managed only 11 Premier League appearances across both campaigns, falling short of his expectations for regular first-team football.
Despite Alonso’s appointment potentially altering the landscape for Jorgensen, the player has already communicated his wish to seek more consistent playing time elsewhere this summer. Chelsea previously blocked his departure during the January transfer window, but the club’s stance has now softened, opening the door for a potential sale. Both European and English clubs are expected to express interest in securing the goalkeeper’s services.
