Nigeria earned their spot in the championship match after a commanding 2-0 semi-final victory over Zimbabwe. Debutant Femi Azeez stole the spotlight by netting both goals, making an immediate impact on his first appearance for the national team.
Jamaica also secured their place in the final with an identical scoreline, defeating India 2-0 to set up a rematch of last year’s title decider.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s final at the Valley, Ogbu stated, “Now that we are in the final, we understand what we need to do. We will recover and prepare well because the reason we came here is to win and retain the title.”
The centre-back’s remarks underscore the squad’s focus on repeating their triumph from the previous edition, where Nigeria edged Jamaica 5-4 on penalties after a tense encounter. Ogbu’s leadership and defensive solidity will be crucial as the Super Eagles aim to hold off the Reggae Boys once again.
