Campos FC Chairman Sanctioned by NLO for Match Official Intimidation

The Nationwide League One (NLO) has taken disciplinary action against Patrick Osuji, the chairman of Campos FC, following allegations that he engaged in intimidation tactics against match officials and physically assaulted the secretary of the Imo State Football Association. The incident occurred just before a scheduled league match against OISA FC.

According to official reports, Osuji directed his players to boycott the game, demanding that the match officials be replaced without providing any valid reason. As a result, the fixture was ultimately canceled.

The NLO described this behavior as a clear violation of the principles of sportsmanship and fair play, which are fundamental to grassroots football. In response, the league has awarded a default victory to OISA FC, granting them three points and three goals in line with the competition’s regulations. Additionally, Campos FC has been fined 500,000 naira, which must be settled before their next league match.

Both Osuji and another club official, Nnadozie, have been handed indefinite suspensions from all NLO-related activities. The matter has been referred to the league’s disciplinary committee for a final verdict. The NLO has confirmed that these sanctions are effective immediately as of the date of notification.
