The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced an unprecedented opportunity for students to retake their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers much sooner than before.
This groundbreaking change, effective January and February 2025, aims to address the challenges faced by candidates who previously had to endure long waiting periods before attempting resit exams during the next private examination cycle.
Streamlined Registration for Resits
John Kapi, WAEC's Head of Public Affairs, revealed this update during an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana. According to Kapi, students who review their results and find the need to improve in one or more subjects now have a chance to register for the resit exams online.“Candidates must complete their registration by 8th January 2025. They can register via our official website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés,” he emphasized.
Exam Schedule
The resit examinations, referred to as WASSCE PC1, will be conducted from 24th January to 15th February 2025. This accelerated timeline is expected to benefit students seeking to quickly rectify their academic shortcomings without disrupting their education plans.Eligibility Criteria
