Mahmut Uslu, a prospective board member in Aziz Yıldırım’s campaign for the Fenerbahçe presidency, has acknowledged that any team would be eager to have a player like Victor Osimhen. However, he made it clear that the Nigerian star is unlikely to end up at Fenerbahçe.
Osimhen had an outstanding campaign with Galatasaray, contributing significantly to their Süper Lig triumph and cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s top strikers.
The former African Footballer of the Year rejoined the Lions last summer after Galatasaray activated his €75 million buyout clause, making him the most expensive acquisition in Turkish football history.
Discussing Galatasaray’s star forward, Uslu described Osimhen as a game-changer in Turkish football and stressed the importance of Fenerbahçe building a squad capable of competing against such talent.
He told HT Spor, as reported by Kıbrıs: “We will create a team that can stand up to a side that includes Osimhen. If we turn Kadıköy into an impenetrable fortress, we will win the title.”
When asked which Galatasaray player he would want for Fenerbahçe, Uslu pointed to Osimhen but immediately dismissed the possibility of a direct transfer between the Istanbul rivals.
“Who wouldn’t want a player like Osimhen? But he won’t come to us. His next moves are obvious,” Uslu stated.
Osimhen has recently been linked with top European clubs such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal, despite being under contract with Galatasaray until June 2029. He has netted 59 goals and provided 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish champions.
