Victor Osimhen, the striker for Galatasaray, has called on fans and the media to ignore rumors about his potential departure from the Turkish club. This comes after Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, made remarks that seemed to hint at an imminent transfer this summer.
During a press conference, Chelle addressed Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June. The Malian coach stated that the player had requested to be left out of the squad to focus on a possible club move.
However, Osimhen took to his Instagram Story to clarify the situation. He revealed that he had a direct conversation with Chelle and that the coach’s words were taken out of context. “I just got off the phone with Coach Eric Chelle regarding the comments about me in his recent interview. Unfortunately, his words have been taken out of context and blown out of proportion,” Osimhen wrote.
The Nigerian international emphasized that Chelle holds great respect for Galatasaray and never intended to stir up controversy. Osimhen added, “I appreciate the conversation, the opportunity to always represent my country, and I look forward to continuing to work with him. He is a great coach whom I respect a lot, and I kindly ask everyone to disregard the speculation surrounding this matter.”
