In a significant political shift, Bashar Geda, who previously vied for the House of Representatives seat under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, and Bunza Federal Constituency, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State. The announcement was made on Saturday during a well-attended gathering of supporters, party members, and political stakeholders held in Birnin Kebbi.
Addressing the crowd, Geda explained that his decision to switch parties was motivated by his admiration for the governance style and initiatives of Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris. He expressed his commitment to supporting the APC and collaborating with party members in the lead-up to future electoral activities in the state.
“With less than eight months to the general elections, I will remain in Birnin Kebbi to rally support and secure a victory for Governor Idris,” Geda declared. He also urged for enhanced political cooperation among stakeholders, highlighting the importance of unity and inclusiveness in the state’s political landscape.
Governor Nasir Idris, who was present to receive the defectors, welcomed Geda and his followers into the APC, promising them equal opportunities within the party. The governor emphasized that the APC is open to all individuals who are eager to contribute to the state’s development and engage in its political activities.
