The Metropolitan Police have taken three individuals into custody following the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian musician Mark Orabiyi in London. The incident has triggered a full-scale murder investigation.
According to authorities, the 35-year-old musician suffered multiple stab wounds during an altercation at a residence on Rayleigh Road. Emergency services responded to distress calls but were unable to save him.
Officers arrived alongside paramedics and found the victim with critical injuries in the garden of the property, where he was later pronounced dead. While formal identification is pending, police have confirmed the deceased is Mark Orabiyi, and specialist officers are supporting his family.
In a heartfelt statement, family members remembered him as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose life touched many. They said: “Mark brought joy, kindness, and warmth to everyone around him. His extraordinary talent and generous spirit impacted countless lives, and his memory will forever remain with us.”
Police revealed that a 27-year-old man was arrested and later released on bail pending further inquiries. A 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were also arrested but subsequently released with no further action. Additionally, a second victim, a 20-year-old man, was treated in hospital for stab wounds that were not life-threatening.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, leading the investigation, described the killing as tragic and appealed for public assistance. “This is a deeply distressing incident. Our thoughts are with Mark’s family. We urge anyone who was in the area or has relevant footage to contact us,” she said.
Inquiries are ongoing as detectives work to determine the events leading to the fatal attack and identify those responsible.
