
The service of songs for late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo saw an outpouring of support from the entertainment industry and beyond. On Wednesday, June 10, the event was held at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, drawing a crowd of notable figures.
Among those paying their respects was former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili, alongside top Nigerian pastors such as Ituah Ighodalo and Jerry Eze. The ceremony featured musical tributes by gospel artists including Peterson Okopi, Ebuka Songs, Moses Bliss, Mercy Chinwo, and the Laud Urban Choir.
The Nollywood community was well-represented, with actresses like Funke Akindele, Dayo Amusan, Kate Henshaw, Omoni Oboli, Nancy Isime, Ini Edo, Blessing Nze, and Ruth Kadiri attending. Actors Ike Ogbonna, Stan Nze, Kunle Remi, and Mike Godson were also present, alongside comedian AY, fashion designer Yomi Casual, TV host Frank Edoho, Cubana Chief Priest, musicians Kcee, E-Money, and Chike, and socialite Nambam.
Alex Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, at a Lagos hospital after a long battle with advanced kidney cancer, as earlier reported by DAILY POST. His remains will be laid to rest in Ujari Village, Abia State, on June 18, 2026.
