Atletico Madrid are reportedly open to parting ways with Ademola Lookman just a few months after his arrival from Atalanta. The La Liga side has set a €50 million asking price for the Nigeria international, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The former African Footballer of the Year joined Atletico with a strong reputation after shining in Serie A, where he emerged as a key attacker for Atalanta. Known for his pace, dribbling, and versatility across the frontline, Lookman was expected to add creativity and depth to Diego Simeone’s squad.
However, the 27-year-old has struggled to adapt to Simeone’s demanding tactical system, which emphasizes defensive discipline, off-the-ball work rate, and organization. Lookman’s integration has been less smooth than anticipated, and his playing time has been inconsistent.
In the second half of last season, the forward recorded 13 goal contributions—nine goals and four assists—in 24 appearances across all competitions. Despite those numbers, his future in Madrid remains uncertain.
Amid the speculation, Lookman opted out of Nigeria’s squad for their June internationals against Poland and Portugal. With Atletico now setting a clear price, potential suitors may emerge in the coming weeks.
