The All Progressives Congress has made a bold declaration that the Peoples Democratic Party will have no foothold in Ebonyi State during the 2027 general elections. This assertion came from the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and Governor Francis Nwifuru during a large rally at Abakaliki Township Stadium.
Addressing a crowd of supporters, the APC leaders formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and vowed to retain every elective position in the state. The event was organized by Governor Nwifuru and Minister of Works Senator David Umahi, drawing political heavyweights from across the South-East, including Governors Charles Soludo of Anambra and Hope Uzodinma of Imo, along with the Deputy Governor of Enugu State representing Governor Peter Mbah.
Yilwatda dismissed any notion that Ebonyi had been conceded to the PDP, stating unequivocally that the APC would secure victory for President Tinubu and all party candidates. “We will return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru in 2027. Nobody has conceded Ebonyi to the PDP. There is no vacancy in Ebonyi State,” he declared.
The national chairman praised Ebonyi residents for their support and urged them to re-elect Tinubu based on the administration’s achievements in infrastructure and human capital development in the South-East region.
Governor Nwifuru echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that Tinubu is the only presidential candidate for Ebonyi. He described the state as an APC stronghold and pledged to deliver it for the President. Nwifuru also refuted claims that some political actors had secured presidential backing to reclaim the state for the PDP. “We are here to tell the world that we have only one party, and that is the APC,” he said.
The governor commended Tinubu for appointing Umahi as Minister of Works, calling him a performing minister, and highlighted key infrastructure projects initiated under the current administration in Ebonyi and the entire South-East.
Senator Umahi, in his remarks, noted that the Tinubu administration has launched unprecedented projects not only in Ebonyi but across all geopolitical zones. He described Ebonyi as a one-party state under Governor Nwifuru and expressed confidence in an APC victory in 2027.
The rally caused significant traffic disruptions in Abakaliki as thousands of party supporters converged on the state capital.
