A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Austin Okai, has asserted that the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, will inevitably be incarcerated. Bello is presently defending himself against allegations of defrauding the state of N110.4 billion, a case brought forward by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Recently, a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, located in Maitama, Abuja, rejected the ex-governor’s motion challenging the court’s authority to hear the case. In response, Okai, a socio-political activist originally from Kogi, expressed that nothing can prevent Bello from facing prison time.
He called on politicians in Kogi to align themselves with the ADC, hinting at the end of the All Progressives Congress (APC) era, which he claims has been marred by electoral manipulation. Okai stated, ‘It is clear that Yahaya Bello is destined for prison; there is no escaping it. Every astute politician in Kogi should now consider joining the ADC. The APC’s rigging mechanisms will be rendered useless from Kuje.’
