Nollywood star Funke Akindele has shared the reason behind her decision to stop attending physical church services. In a recent Snapchat video, she explained that her presence often becomes a distraction, as attendees frequently focus on taking pictures of her instead of participating in the worship. To avoid this, she now opts to join services online from the comfort of her home.
According to the actress, whenever she steps into a church, she inevitably becomes the center of attention. This constant interruption led her to prefer virtual fellowship. She stated, ‘I always end up being the one they photograph, so I just join online.’
This revelation comes after Akindele publicly identified with the Celestial Church of Christ in 2022. Back then, she admitted that she used to attend the church quietly at night for solutions during challenging times but decided to openly embrace the denomination. She said, ‘Whenever I face difficulties, I go to Celestial church at night for guidance. But I’ve stopped hiding and now proudly affiliate with them.’
