
Security forces in Zamfara State have recorded a significant victory, neutralizing two suspected terrorists during a recent patrol. The counter-insurgency operation, carried out by the 1 Brigade Quick Response Unit from Forward Operating Base Bagega, took place in the early hours of May 4.
According to reports from Zagazola Makama, a security analyst specializing in the Lake Chad region, the troops conducted a sweep through several villages, including Maikwanuga in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, and extended their operations to Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, and Tungar Magaji in Maradun Local Government Area.
The confrontation occurred at Tungar Magaji village when the patrol team encountered armed suspects, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the clash, two terrorists were neutralized, while the remaining assailants escaped, believed to be wounded.
The operation resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle. Authorities have confirmed that troops are currently combing the area to apprehend the fleeing suspects and prevent any further security threats.
