Warri College Denies Institutional Role in JAMB Cheating Scandal

The management of the College of Education in Warri, Delta State, has officially responded to allegations that it was involved in examination malpractice during the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) tests. The institution issued a firm denial, asserting that no such activity was sanctioned by its leadership.

Mrs. Vusi Owarieta Enakarhire, the college’s spokesperson, released a statement clarifying that the school had no part in the illegal actions attributed to some individuals linked to the incident. The college expressed its full commitment to collaborating with law enforcement and JAMB to ensure that those responsible face legal consequences.

Regarding the claim titled “NPF, JAMB Bust Sophisticated Examination Malpractice Syndicate,” the college emphasized that it remains a law-abiding institution and will not shield anyone found guilty of misconduct. It reiterated that criminal behavior by a few should not be interpreted as the stance or culture of the entire organization.

The institution disclosed that staff members suspected of being involved in the malpractice have already been suspended, and their salaries have been halted pending the conclusion of investigations and disciplinary proceedings. This step reflects the college’s dedication to upholding discipline and integrity.

The statement further noted that no organization is immune to the wrongful acts of a small number of individuals. The college reaffirmed its unwavering stance against examination cheating, fraud, and any unethical practices that could harm Nigeria’s educational system or tarnish the reputation of credible academic bodies.

For years, the college has consistently maintained a reputable record in hosting UTME examinations through its CBT centre. Its role has always been limited to providing a suitable and accredited environment for the exams. At no point did the management authorize or participate in any illicit activities tied to the testing process.

Recognizing the gravity of the allegations, the management has taken decisive administrative measures, including the suspension of implicated staff and the withholding of their pay. The college reassured students, parents, and the public that it will continue to strengthen internal oversight and uphold the principles of excellence, credibility, and accountability.
