In his remarks on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer highlighted David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, and Declan Rice as strong contenders for the prestigious prize if Mikel Arteta’s squad triumphs over Manchester City in the title race.
Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures include a Monday night clash against Burnley, followed by a season finale against Crystal Palace next Sunday. Winning both matches would guarantee the Premier League crown for the Gunners.
“If Arsenal win the Premier League, which we expect them to do, I would chuck David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice in there,” Shearer stated, advocating for their inclusion in the Player of the Year conversation. He also acknowledged the exceptional form of Bruno Fernandes, adding, “I am not taking anything away from Bruno Fernandes. He has been outstanding. God knows where Manchester United would be without him.”
