NLO Suspends Cynosure FC for Using Professional Players

NLO Suspends Cynosure FC for Using Professional Players

The Nationwide League One (NLO) has issued a ban on Cynosure FC for the rest of the 2026 campaign. Alongside the suspension, the club faces a fine of ₦500,000 for breaching player eligibility rules by fielding professionals and providing false registration details.

According to a statement from the NLO Disciplinary Committee, the team was found to have violated both amateur status and player eligibility regulations. The committee determined that the club used Nigeria National League players—Orngudwem Raphael of Solution FC and Ogbodo Valentine Chizoba of Osun United FC—in multiple matches this season. Notably, Chizoba had been reported as absent without leave by his parent club, Osun United.

Investigations revealed that Cynosure submitted fraudulent declarations and misleading documents to register these players as amateurs. Furthermore, they ignored the mandatory 30-day waiting period required by FIFA rules before a professional can participate in an amateur league.

Club chairman Nwaeze Chidiebere Prince admitted that the information was accurate but pleaded ignorance regarding the violations. The committee dismissed this defense, labeling the actions as deliberate and a threat to the integrity of the amateur league.

The sanctions include forfeiture of all matches in which the ineligible players appeared, along with a two-year probationary period. The club has 72 hours to appeal the decision, which is effective immediately.

Pep Guardiola Opens Up on Man City Departure: 'I'm Running Out of Energy'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has finally revealed the true reason behind his decision to leave the club after a decade-long tenure. In a candid press conference, the Spanish tactician admitted that he is experiencing a significant drain in energy levels, drawing a parallel with the situation that led Jurgen Klopp to exit Liverpool in 2024.

Guardiola stated, ‘I find myself in a similar situation to what Jurgen Klopp went through. The tank is empty.’ He elaborated that the relentless schedule of matches every three days, the constant pressure to compete for silverware, and the daily demands of motivating elite players have taken a toll on him.

He mentioned the grueling travel to venues like Selhurst Park, Anfield, and the Santiago Bernabéu, emphasizing that such a routine is no longer sustainable for him. ‘It’s time for me to reclaim my life,’ he added.

The 54-year-old also stressed that Manchester City needs a fresh perspective. ‘The club deserves a new manager with renewed energy to write the next chapter with this incredible squad.’ Guardiola’s announcement comes exactly a decade after he took the reins at the Etihad, a period marked by unprecedented success.
