Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has firmly denied recent speculations that he is suffering from a life-threatening disease. The rumors began circulating widely on social media following the release of a video that showed the actor appearing visibly unwell and frail.
According to reports from DAILY POST, the footage quickly went viral, prompting an outpouring of concern from fans and colleagues alike. Many expressed worry about the actor’s health condition.
In response, Duru took to Instagram to address the situation. In a video message, he stated that he has never been as ill as portrayed and described the rumors as the work of “merchants of darkness and wickedness.” He emphasized that he is in good health and intends to remain strong with God’s grace.
“My dear fans, greetings to you all. Thank you for always being there with your prayers and wishes. I’m making this video regarding a very wicked video circulating about me being sick to that severe level you see. I have never been that sick and would never be that sick. By God’s grace, I will keep getting stronger,” Duru said.
He further accused those behind the video of trying to undermine his success and drive traffic through negativity. “That video is the handiwork of merchants of darkness, those who sit and conjure negativity for people. They don’t want to see others rise or believe in their success, all in the name of driving traffic. This is me talking to you. Anything beyond this is their business. Thank you for your concerns. I love you all,” he added.
Despite his denial, the video itself sparked fresh worry among fans who commented on his appearance. One fan, sunperfct, wrote, “You look so slim and sound weak. Divine healing upon you, sir. We will not lose you in Jesus’ name. Amen.” Another, stellaseptemberamare, said, “But you look sick, or is it me? I pray God gives you healing wherever you need it.” noni_stan1 added, “Whatever you are going through, I pray your God heals you. To me, you don’t look strong, but your God will give you strength to overcome everything. I love you so much.”
The actor’s video, intended to calm fears, has instead deepened concerns about his health due to his noticeably slender frame and seeming fragility.
