Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly acknowledged receiving a summons from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The development follows a formal complaint submitted by legal practitioner Blessing Agbomhere of Blessing Agbomhere & Partners, which called for a comprehensive investigation into the financial dealings, sponsorships, and funding sources of both VeryDarkMan and activist-lawyer Deji Adeyanju.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan claimed the investigation is a deliberate effort to silence opposition voices in Nigeria. He further alleged that associates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are using legal means to initiate the inquiry, aiming to curb criticism of the government’s failures. “They want to stop us from speaking against this evil government that has failed to protect the lives of Nigerians. So, they used their people to write petitions,” he wrote.
The activist’s reaction underscores ongoing tensions between online critics and authorities, as he frames the EFCC’s move as an attack on free speech. The petition specifically targets the financial networks behind VeryDarkMan and Adeyanju, seeking a thorough audit of their activities.
