Xabi Alonso has expressed his delight after officially being unveiled as Chelsea’s new manager. The Spanish tactician, who previously coached Real Madrid, will take the reins at Stamford Bridge starting July 1, 2026, following a four-year contract agreement.
Alonso told the club’s official website that his primary goal is to develop a squad that can compete for silverware. He emphasized the shared vision between himself and the club’s ownership and sporting directors.
“Chelsea is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious clubs in world football, and I am incredibly proud to be appointed as its manager,” Alonso said. “My discussions with the ownership and sporting leadership have shown that we are aligned in our ambitions.
