Hansi Flick: It Was a Privilege to Coach Lewandowski as He Seeks a Fresh Start

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has spoken for the first time since Robert Lewandowski announced his departure from the club at the end of the season. The Polish striker, who has scored 119 goals in 191 appearances for the Blaugrana, confirmed that he will leave Camp Nou when his contract expires in June.

During a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s Sunday night clash with Real Betis, Flick expressed his gratitude for having coached the former Bayern Munich star. “It’s been a great chapter for him. For me, it’s been a privilege to work with him because he is a true professional,” the German coach said.

Flick highlighted Lewandowski’s exemplary attitude and performance level. “He is a role model, which is why he is still performing at this level. Now, he wants a new challenge, and we respect that,” Flick added.

The 37-year-old forward’s decision to move on marks the end of an era for Barcelona, but Flick made it clear that the club supports his desire to explore new opportunities. The manager’s words reflect a mutual respect between player and coach as the season draws to a close.
