The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed profound grief over the demise of renowned actor Kola Oyewo, honoring him as a remarkable performer whose impact on African theater endures.
Earlier reports by media outlets confirmed the actor’s death on Friday, with his son Adetoyese Oyewo sharing the sad news with the public.
In a heartfelt message posted on his X account on Saturday, Atiku shared his sorrow, saying: “The passing of Dr. Kola Oyewo brings me immense sadness. He was an extraordinary thespian and scholar of African theater.
“His unforgettable portrayal of King Lapite in the classic production ‘Saworoide’ showcased his exceptional talent and deep teachings.
“The world of Theater Arts has lost a giant.
“He will be dearly missed by all who cherish African narratives across the globe.
