The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has finalized its House of Representatives primaries for the 2027 general elections. The exercise, conducted across all federal constituencies, saw a mix of former lawmakers, ex-public officials, and current legislators emerge as candidates, largely through consensus agreements.

In Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza constituency, former legislator Bello Yakubu Rilisco, who previously chaired the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency, clinched the party’s ticket after incumbent Ibrahim Bello and ex-Rector Usman Sani Tunga stepped aside. A party source described the process as smooth, with stakeholders opting for consensus to promote party harmony.

For Jega/Gwandu/Aliero, the sitting representative, Mansur Musa Jega, was unable to retain his seat. Instead, former Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Jafar Ahmed Jega, received the endorsement of party leaders as the consensus candidate following extensive consultations.

Meanwhile, Salisu Garba Koko, the current member for Koko/Besse/Maiyama, successfully secured the APC ticket for another term. In Argungu/Augie, Umar Hassan Augie, widely known as Turakin Augie, was chosen as the party’s standard-bearer.

Bello Kaoje, who chairs the House Committee on Agriculture, was reaffirmed as the APC candidate for Suru/Bagudo through a consensus affirmation. Former Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, also earned the ticket for Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski after switching from the Kebbi South senatorial contest.

In Arewa/Dandi, incumbent Rabi’u Garba Kamba retained the party’s nomination after several aspirants withdrew following a consensus deal.

However, the primary in Zuru/Fakai/Sakaba/Danko-Wasagu was not without controversy. Although the current lawmaker, Kabir Ibrahim Tukura, was declared the winner, supporters of rival candidate Bashar Suleman Bajida protested, alleging unfairness. One protester claimed that some aspirants were not given adequate notice or opportunity to participate. Despite these allegations, party officials insisted that the primaries adhered to APC guidelines and represented the collective will of stakeholders.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has praised the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries for their peaceful and orderly nature, which took place across the state on Saturday.

After casting his vote at Jekadafari Ward, the governor expressed his satisfaction with the high voter turnout and the seamless execution of the exercise throughout the region.

Yahaya commended the election officials and party leaders for upholding transparency and fairness, ensuring a credible process for all candidates.

He emphasized that the party remains a cohesive family, stating, ‘There are no winners or losers; all are APC members. I call on everyone to work together and stay united for the party’s triumph in the upcoming general elections.’

The governor also highlighted the importance of party unity to continue the developmental agenda of the APC administration in Gombe.

He noted that the orderly nature of the primaries underscores the growing democratic maturity within the party and the state.

Alhaji Labiru Musa Kafur, chairman of the Primary Election Committee, also lauded the Gombe APC for its adherence to democratic norms, saying, ‘We are very pleased with the peaceful conduct and transparent election process.’

The direct primary election saw contests in key constituencies, including Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency between Hon. Sadam Bello Saleh and Alhaji Zakariyya Jidda, as well as Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency between incumbent lawmaker Ali Isa JC and Alfred John Attajiri.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has successfully clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to represent Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State during the 2027 general elections. The election took place on Saturday, with Kalu running unopposed and securing victory through delegates from all 13 political wards in the constituency.

Kalu, who was first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, emerged as the APC candidate after a peaceful primary election monitored by the party’s electoral panel chairman for Abia, Erasmus Cishak. The process commenced late in the afternoon and was largely peaceful, according to reports from DAILY POST correspondents who were present in various parts of the state.

Following his victory, Kalu addressed journalists at the APC office on Saturday evening. He pledged to build on his achievements in Bende if re-elected, emphasizing that he would not underestimate his opponents. However, he expressed confidence that the constituents would recognize the value of returning a ranking officer to the National Assembly.

Kalu further noted that the National Assembly would continue to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu’s administration to advance the nation’s progress. Meanwhile, Erasmus Cishak commended the aspirants and their supporters for maintaining peace and discipline throughout the primary election, highlighting that their conduct reflected positively on the APC.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) successfully concluded its House of Representatives primary elections across Delta State, with candidates emerging through a mix of direct voting, Option A4, and consensus arrangements. The exercise was widely praised for its peaceful and transparent nature, reflecting the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, Onoyake secured victory, as announced by returning officer Mr. Charles Aniagwu. Chief Bernard Jagboro and Hon. Madis Emerorota, representing candidates Onoyake and Odiate Obaro Emmanuel, commended the party leadership for ensuring a free and fair process. They specifically lauded Governor Oborevwori for creating a level playing field and thanked party members for their peaceful conduct.

Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi emerged victorious in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, while the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency primaries proceeded without incident. Chairman of the National Assembly Primaries Committee for Delta State, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, expressed satisfaction with the orderly and transparent proceedings across the state. He noted that the adoption of direct primaries ensured a bottom-up democratic process, starting at the ward level and culminating at the federal constituency collation centers.

Odo stated: “This is an actual public meeting, and we have visited several locations to monitor the House of Representatives primaries in Delta State. So far, we have observed that the primaries are progressing peacefully, and the collation process is equally calm.” He praised party members for their discipline, noting no reports of violence or irregularities.

In Aniocha/Oshimili, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu was declared winner by returning officer Mr. Val Arenyeka after results were collated at the Oshimili South Local Government Secretariat. Elumelu described his win as a collective victory for the constituency, promising impactful representation in the House of Representatives.

Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu won in Ethiope Federal Constituency, where voting was orderly across all wards. Similarly, the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency primaries were conducted peacefully, with early voter turnout and satisfaction expressed by party members. Council Chairman Hon. Dagidi Andaye, who voted in Kpakiama Ward Two, attributed the calm atmosphere to Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and infrastructure development across the state.

In Ughelli North/Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, voting began at Afiesere Primary School around 11:00 a.m. Party stakeholders, including Ughelli North Local Government party Chairman Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro, commended the transparency of the process. Hon. Ejiro Waive was declared the winner.

Incumbent lawmaker Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko defeated challenger Hon. Dickson Ebegbare in Isoko Federal Constituency. The Warri Federal Constituency primaries saw large turnout, with stakeholders praising President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for ensuring fairness. Mr. Emmanuel Osazuwa emerged winner in Ika Federal Constituency, where leaders highlighted massive turnout as a show of support for the party.

Hon. Julius Pondi was declared winner in Burutu Federal Constituency, where the exercise was also peaceful.

Governor Oborevwori, after voting in Okpe Local Government Area, described the primaries as a reflection of the party’s unity and strength. He expressed confidence that the peaceful spirit would continue into the general elections. Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme lauded the Option A4 system, calling it the most transparent form of election, and praised the overall peaceful conduct across the state.

The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, clinching the party’s nomination for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat.

Amaewhule, who has presided over the state legislature since 2011, represents Obio-Akpor Constituency I. He is currently the Speaker of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.

Under his leadership, the Assembly has made multiple attempts to impeach Governor Sim Fubara. Amaewhule is a staunch loyalist of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State.

Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, who represents the Kebbi South Senatorial District, has announced his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) just days before the party’s senatorial primary scheduled for Monday. In a resignation letter dated May 14, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area, Kebbi State, the lawmaker cited unresolved internal conflicts within the party as the driving force behind his decision. He noted that these ongoing issues have created significant hurdles for his political ambitions. Maidoki expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunity to serve under its platform but emphasized the need to move on due to the party’s unstable environment. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation. His exit has intensified speculation about political realignments in Kebbi State as the 2027 general elections approach.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries in Edo State have been thrown into disarray following the emergence of parallel exercises and conflicting results across several federal constituencies.

DAILY POST gathered that the primaries, conducted across nine constituencies, were marred by irregularities. In Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben Federal Constituency, two separate exercises produced different winners. Incumbent lawmaker Hon. Marcus Onobun was declared winner of one exercise with 6,897 votes, while Hon. Lucky Eseigbe, backed by Governor Monday Okpebholo, emerged victorious in another. In his declared result, Eseigbe also claimed 6,897 votes but with Onobun receiving only 1,007 votes.

A similar scenario unfolded in Owan Federal Constituency, where Hon. Andrew Ijegbai was reported to have defeated the incumbent Majority Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere. However, Ihonvbere’s supporters circulated a different result showing him as the winner.

In Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, Hon. Bankole Balogun and Mrs. Adetutu Owolabi were each declared winners by different returning officers. Balogun’s result, announced by returning officer Kassim Otono, gave him 3,368 votes against Owolabi’s 783.

Elsewhere, Dr. Paddy Iyamu won in Oredo Federal Constituency with 7,088 votes, defeating incumbent Hon. Esosa Iyawe. Hon. Omosede Igbinedion and Hon. Billy Osawaru secured their tickets in Ovia and Uhunwonde/Orhionmwon constituencies respectively. Hon. Dekeri Anamero polled 8,901 votes to win Etsako Federal Constituency, while Mr. Felix Igbinovia Osaze emerged victorious in Ikpoba-Okha/Egor Federal Constituency.

The conflicting results have raised concerns about the credibility of the primaries and the party’s ability to present unified candidates ahead of the general elections.

A female aspirant vying for the House of Representatives seat representing Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, Liya Samuel Lucy, has raised concerns regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) failure to conduct its primary election as scheduled on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Lucy noted that she and numerous party members across the state waited throughout the day for officials from the APC National Secretariat to oversee the process, but the election never took place. Reports indicate that the party’s electoral committee and materials reached Jalingo, the state capital, around 3 pm on Saturday, which apparently hindered the distribution of materials to all 168 wards before the end of the day.

Speaking to journalists, Lucy urged the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to step in and instruct the electoral committee in Taraba State to formally brief aspirants on the current situation and the next steps. She expressed frustration that since the committee’s arrival, aspirants have received no official word about a postponement or new date.

Lucy described the development as a violation of aspirants’ rights, emphasizing that party members deserve clear information about the electoral process. She added that as Nigeria’s ruling party, the APC should exemplify transparency and credibility in its internal elections for other parties to follow.

“I call on the National Chairman of our great party, the APC, to ensure a new date is set and properly conveyed to all aspirants in the state. The silence from the electoral committee is unacceptable to us,” she said.

“The committee arrived in the state and met with the State Working Committee, but we have heard nothing from them. There was no press briefing explaining why the election did not happen on Saturday, nor did they inform the people of Taraba State when the election would be conducted.

“We are completely in the dark about the entire process, and we demand clarification from the National Chairman,” Lucy added.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State has witnessed a significant shift as one of its leading governorship aspirants, Senator Ibrahim Bomai, announced his exit from the 2027 race. Representing Yobe South in the Senate, Bomai revealed his decision in a statement on Saturday, following a series of consultations with party stakeholders, political allies, and numerous supporters across the state.

According to the senator, this move was prompted by extensive dialogue and the counsel of party elders, all aimed at preserving cohesiveness and tranquility as the 2027 elections approach. He emphasized that his initial aspiration was rooted in a genuine wish to foster progress, peace, and harmony in Yobe State.

Bomai expressed profound appreciation to his followers for their unwavering loyalty, sacrifices, and dedication during this political journey. He urged them to stay peaceful, united, and focused on the advancement of the state, despite his withdrawal.

This development follows closely on the heels of similar decisions by two other APC governorship aspirants: Lawan Kolo Geidam and former Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, both of whom previously stepped aside. The trend highlights a concerted effort within the party to streamline its ticket ahead of the general elections.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has praised Kaduna Polytechnic as a cornerstone of technical education, innovation, and entrepreneurial growth, noting that its graduates have significantly impacted industries, public service, and institutional development. Speaking during the polytechnic’s 70th anniversary and combined convocation at the Tudun Wada Main Campus, the governor, an alumnus, received the institution’s Fellowship Award. He described the honor as a testament to his administration’s dedication to educational progress, youth empowerment, and institutional revitalization.

The governor emphasized that his government prioritizes technical education, arguing that sustainable development hinges on deliberate investment in knowledge, skills, and innovation. He stated that polytechnics are not peripheral but central to productivity, enterprise, and human capital formation, especially in a rapidly evolving global economy. He highlighted the sponsorship of 775 students at Kaduna Polytechnic, stressing that this initiative removes financial barriers for talented youth from all backgrounds.

Sani revealed the establishment of three Institutes of Vocational Training and Skills Development in Rigachikun, Samaru Kataf, and Soba. These institutes, certified by the National Board for Technical Education as among the best-equipped skills hubs in Nigeria, offer training in welding, solar technology, IT, and artificial intelligence. He noted that these efforts aim to position Kaduna State as a national center of technical excellence while bridging skills gaps hindering local economic growth.

The governor also discussed the modernization of Panteka Market, Africa’s largest informal skills hub. Now equipped with state-of-the-art tools and facilities aligned with the Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework, the market is expected to benefit over 38,000 apprentices by blending traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques and certification. Sani claimed the revamped market surpasses Kenya’s legendary Jua Kali initiative. He directed the construction of a new lecture theater at the polytechnic and announced plans to rehabilitate access roads on both main and bypass campuses.

Calling for increased support from the private sector, development partners, alumni, and philanthropists, Sani urged endowments, research funding, infrastructure partnerships, and mentorship programs. He concluded that the nation’s future depends on the quality of institutions built today.
