According to DAILY POST, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich are the contenders, but only half will advance to the championship match.
Tuesday’s Clash: Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid
The action kicks off at 8 pm at the Emirates Stadium. The first leg in Spain ended in a 1-1 draw, putting Arsenal, who currently top the Premier League table, in a favorable position. They need a strong home performance to overcome Diego Simeone’s disciplined side. Arsenal enters the match on the back of a 3-0 Premier League victory over Fulham, while Atletico Madrid secured a 2-0 win against Valencia in LaLiga.
Wednesday’s Showdown: Bayern Munich vs PSG
The second semifinal takes place at 8 pm at the Allianz Arena. The first leg in Paris was a thriller, ending 5-4 in favor of PSG. The Parisians, leaders of Ligue 1, must produce an outstanding display to beat Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich on German soil. Bayern, however, will be buoyed by home support. PSG comes into the game after a 2-2 draw with Lorient, while Bayern drew 3-3 with Heidenheim in the Bundesliga.
Lagos-based journalist Femi Fabunmi shared his predictions with DAILY POST, backing both Arsenal and Bayern to progress. “The first legs were crackers, especially in Paris, where both PSG and Bayern showed real attacking firepower,” Fabunmi said. “Arsenal came away with a draw, which makes the Emirates Stadium return a must-watch. Bayern will have a cracker on their hands on Wednesday, but I think they will edge it at home. Arsenal’s situation is trickier, but home support should be enough to push them through to the final.”
