Davido Blasts Critic: ‘May God Punish Your Generation’ After Backlash Over Tinubu Remarks

Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has found himself in a social media war of words after a follower questioned his stance on the current administration. The back-and-forth erupted following a post where the singer acknowledged that entertainers, himself included, have failed to adequately address the nation’s challenges.

In his initial online message, Davido admitted, “I can’t lie, we entertainers… we are falling short, and that includes me. We must speak out. Too much injustice is happening. Our country has gone astray.” The post, which lamented the state of affairs in Nigeria, swiftly drew a sharp retort from a user named Princess Luna.

Princess Luna accused the singer of hypocrisy, writing, “May God punish you and your household. Take that fake outrage to your City Boys group chat and stop bothering us with this insincere nonsense. The blame lies with foolish Nigerians like you.”

Davido fired back, defending his integrity and his history of speaking up. “I am not part of any City Boys group. When I criticized the government on international platforms, you all insulted me. I have been friends with ST for years — that’s it. I constantly call and complain to him, both in person and otherwise. God punish your generation,” the artist replied.

The exchange underscores the intense scrutiny celebrities face when commenting on political matters in Nigeria. Davido’s frustration with being labeled insincere highlights the delicate balance between public advocacy and personal relationships.
