The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially selected Senator Kabiru Marafa as its flagbearer for the governorship race in Zamfara State, setting the stage for the 2027 elections. This decision was reached through a consensus arrangement during a gathering in Gusau, the state capital, as confirmed by Aminu Jelani, the chairman of the party’s electoral committee.
In his acceptance remarks, Marafa expressed gratitude to party supporters for their trust and vowed to deliver exemplary leadership if elected. He identified corruption as a major obstacle to progress in Zamfara and committed to fostering transparency and ensuring the efficient use of public resources.
Furthermore, Marafa outlined his vision for enhanced governance, improved living conditions for citizens, and equitable opportunities for all residents across the state. The former senator recently joined the NDC after departing from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a transition that was publicly acknowledged by party leader Seriake Dickson.
According to an official statement from the NDC, Marafa has pledged to contribute to strengthening the party’s presence and spearheading its activities in Zamfara State.
