The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has voiced serious worry about the alarming downturn in both security and education sectors across the region. This concern was highlighted during a gathering organized by students to appreciate Senator Yakubu Lado, where the party’s state chairman, Alhaji Nura Amadi Kurfi, delivered remarks on the mounting difficulties.
According to Kurfi, the safety landscape in Katsina has experienced a notable decline over recent years, disrupting economic activities and endangering the well-being of numerous communities. He emphasized that immediate and purposeful actions are needed to address the problems in security and education, which he described as the bedrock of lasting progress.
The PDP chairman lamented that the current insecurity has stalled socio-economic growth and reversed earlier accomplishments in vital sectors. He drew a comparison with what he called the “16 prosperous years” of PDP governance in the state, asserting that the notable advancements made during that era have now been squandered.
Kurfi blamed the present administration for failing to build on those achievements, leading to what he termed a period of developmental regression. Despite the grim outlook, he expressed hope that recovery is possible, noting that the PDP’s strategy includes specific initiatives to bolster security and rejuvenate education.
In his response, Senator Lado reassured supporters that their trust would be honored, vowing to commit himself to pursuing enhanced governance for the people.
