Nigerian Army Detains Suspected Informant for Terrorists in Kwara

In a major breakthrough in Kwara State, Nigerian Army personnel have taken into custody a man believed to be passing intelligence to terrorist groups in the region. The operation took place in Kaiama Local Government Area, according to information shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

Troops from the 244 Battalion, stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Kaiama, collaborated with local vigilantes to execute the arrest. The suspect was caught in Vera village around 6:45 p.m. on April 28 during a coordinated security sweep.

Initial investigations suggest that the individual authored and delivered a threatening message to the community, falsely claiming to represent terrorist factions. Authorities believe he served as an informant for criminal networks operating in the vicinity.

The suspect remains in military custody, where he is undergoing interrogation. Further inquiries are ongoing to prepare for potential legal proceedings.
