The Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, now know their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. According to DAILY POST, they have been placed in a group featuring the national teams of Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau. This announcement came during the official draw ceremony held on Tuesday at the Cairo headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
Under the guidance of head coach Éric Chelle, Nigeria entered the draw as one of the seeded teams, a status shared with other top-tier African football nations. As a result, they are widely considered the overwhelming favorites to top the group standings. The qualification structure allows the top two teams from each group to secure their place at the AFCON 2027 finals.
The qualifying matches are scheduled to take place across three FIFA international windows. The opening two matchdays are set for September 21 and October 6, 2026. Following that, the third and fourth rounds will be contested from November 9 to 17, 2026. Finally, the concluding qualification fixtures are slated for the period of March 22 to 30, 2027.
