Nigeria's Flamingos Set for Abidjan Trip in World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, are gearing up for their World Cup qualifying encounter against Guinea, with travel plans now finalized. The squad will fly to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s first-leg showdown at a neutral venue.

The Nigerians have been camped in Ikenne for the past week, fine-tuning their strategies under head coach Akeem Busari. In their most recent preparation match, the Flamingos overwhelmed Lakeside Queens with a convincing 5-0 victory last Thursday, showcasing their readiness.

Thirty-six players remain in contention for a spot on the traveling squad, though the coaching staff is expected to trim the roster before departure. The reverse fixture is scheduled for May 30 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, where Nigeria will aim to secure a spot in the next round of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
