Partey Set for Free Agency as Real Madrid Swoop for Silva

Villarreal has opted not to extend Thomas Partey’s contract, leaving the Ghanaian midfielder free to leave at the end of June. The Spanish club’s decision means Partey will become a free agent after a single season with the Yellow Submarine.

The 33-year-old joined Villarreal from Arsenal last summer and made 32 appearances across all competitions. He is currently representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but his participation has been marred by visa issues. Partey was recently denied entry to Canada due to an ongoing legal matter in the United Kingdom, which has affected his availability for the tournament.

In a separate major development, Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese playmaker left Manchester City at the end of last season and has now joined the Spanish giants on a two-year contract, keeping him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2028. Silva will work under new manager José Mourinho at Real Madrid.
