Chelsea’s captain, Reece James, has expressed his deep disappointment following the departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid. The left-back’s transfer was finalized after the Spanish giants acted swiftly to secure his services at the behest of new manager Jose Mourinho.
The deal, valued at €55 million (£47.5m) with an additional €5 million (£4.3m) in potential bonuses, marks the end of Cucurella’s four-year stint with the Blues. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he contributed to the club’s triumphs in the Club World Cup and the Conference League.
In an interview with talkSPORT, James described Cucurella as a phenomenal player and one of the finest left-backs globally.
