The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Plateau State has successfully conducted its state congress, resulting in the election of new leadership. Solomon Ndam was voted in as the new state chairman, taking over the reins of the party in the state.
The event, held in Jos, the state capital, brought together delegates, stakeholders, and party supporters from various local government areas to participate in the electoral process.
Jonathan Sunday Akuns, a prominent party figure, opened the congress and emphasized the NDC’s dedication to inclusive governance and grassroots development. He stated that the party’s policies would cater to the diverse needs of communities throughout the state.
The election, which party officials described as transparent and credible, saw Ndam emerge victorious. In his acceptance speech, the new chairman pledged to prioritize grassroots mobilization and unity within the party. He outlined his focus on strengthening the party’s structure at the community level while tackling pressing issues such as unemployment, insecurity, and social divisions.
Ndam expressed optimism about the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing a surge in support and membership. According to him, the NDC has registered over 250,000 new members in a short span, reflecting growing confidence in the party.
Other stakeholders at the congress called for unity and cooperation among party members to build a stronger opposition platform. The event concluded with a commitment from the newly elected executives to deepen grassroots engagement and expand the party’s footprint across Plateau State.
