According to recent reports, Arsenal has emerged as the sole viable option for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez during the current transfer window. The 26-year-old Argentina international, however, is reportedly not keen on a move to the Premier League side based in North London.
Transfer speculation has linked Alvarez with both Arsenal and Barcelona this summer. Barcelona’s initial offer of £86.4 million was turned down by Atletico Madrid, leaving negotiations at a standstill between the two Spanish clubs, as per The Sun.
Diego Simeone’s team remains optimistic that Alvarez will continue his stay in the Spanish capital beyond this transfer period. Alvarez made the switch to Atletico Madrid from Manchester City for £81.5 million two years ago.
Whether the 26-year-old will ultimately depart Atletico this summer for a new club remains uncertain.
