Nigerian music star Bella Shmurda has opened up about his perspective on the purpose of music, stating that it functions as a form of combat for social progress. In a recent appearance in the For Bunmi documentary, the artist behind the hit track ‘Cash App’ elaborated on his views.
According to the singer, music is more than just entertainment; it is a powerful weapon that can drive positive transformation in society. He described it as a tool for advancement and an agent of benevolence.
“Music is a form of warfare. It is an instrument for societal improvement. It serves as a vehicle for growth and a means to spread kindness. It helps people maintain mental stability, brings them to a balanced state of mind, allows them to shake off their sadness through dance, and instills a sense of being alive and aware,” he stated.
Bella Shmurda also shared how becoming a father has altered his approach to creating music. He revealed that he now exercises greater caution regarding the themes and messages in his songs because he wants his children to feel proud of his work when they are older.
