The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the sudden death of veteran actor and entrepreneur Solomon Akiyesi. The sad news was broken by Abubakar Yakubu, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), on Monday.
According to Yakubu, Akiyesi passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday. His remains have been taken to a mortuary in Abuja, where the unfortunate incident took place. The guild is currently awaiting additional information from the family regarding the circumstances of his death.
“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. He slept and did not wake up. We await further details from the family. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened,” Yakubu stated.
Born in the Akoko-Edo/Ososo region of Edo State, Solomon Akiyesi was a familiar face in Nollywood for many years. He appeared in numerous films, including Heart of a Saint, Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, and Bridge of Contract.
The news of his death has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian public, with many expressing disbelief. Tributes are already pouring in as friends, colleagues, and fans come to terms with the loss of the talented actor.
