Popular Nigerian comedian and activist MC Okrika has raised alarm over what he describes as a direct threat to his safety. In a viral video that has since circulated widely, the entertainer claims that certain officers of the Nigeria Police Force are targeting him following his exposé of alleged wrongdoing by policemen in Cross River State.
MC Okrika, known for his outspoken stance on social issues, has called on the Inspector General of Police, the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, and the state government to intervene urgently. “Right now, my life is in serious danger. I have come under threat because I brought to light the evil actions of some police officers. I recorded them smoking Indian hemp and shared the video online,” he stated in the video.
The comedian explained that his decision to go public stemmed from witnessing a distressing incident where policemen allegedly harassed a young man and extorted money from him. “I saw police officers mistreat a young man and take his money. I could no longer stay silent. My life is at stake. If anything happens to me, the police force must be held responsible. I know the threats I have received, the curses hurled at me. The police are after my life,” he added.
MC Okrika’s revelation has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users expressing support and calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations. The video, which includes footage of the alleged incident, has been shared extensively, putting pressure on authorities to respond.
