Davido and Rarara Clash on Social Media Over Security Issues

The Nigerian music scene witnessed a fiery online confrontation between Dauda Kahutu Rarara and Davido, sparking intense discussion among netizens, especially on X (formerly Twitter).

The dispute ignited on Tuesday night when Rarara posted a video criticizing Davido for his remarks about the country’s security situation. This followed a performance by Davido at a World Cup preparation event where he wore a shirt displaying the Nigerian flag and names of schoolchildren reportedly abducted in Oyo State.

Last month, armed assailants claiming to be jihadists attacked a school in Oyo State, kidnapping several pupils and teachers. The incident drew national condemnation and amplified criticism of the government’s handling of security.

In response, Davido tweeted on Wednesday: “Every Nigerian must speak out against the insecurity plaguing our nation and not stop others from voicing their concerns. Putting personal or political interests above the community’s welfare is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot, prioritize truth over politics, and fear God in all you do.”

Hours later, Davido addressed Rarara in Hausa, saying: “Da ace kana da ilimi da na tsaya nayi magana dakai. Amma komai baka sani ba, sakarai kawai.” This translates to: “If you had knowledge, I would engage with you. But you know nothing; you are just a fool.”

Rarara fired back in the comment section: “Ka shiga taitayinka,” meaning “You should be careful.”

The exchange has dominated online conversations, with fans of both artists fiercely debating whether celebrities should speak out on national security matters.
