Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District, setting the stage for his return to the National Assembly in the 2027 elections. The former senator, who represented the district from 2011 to 2019, secured the party’s ticket during the APC senatorial primary held on Monday.
Uzodimma, who currently serves as the governor of Imo State, is expected to complete his second term in January 2028. He also chairs the Progressives Governors Forum, an umbrella body of APC governors across the country. His victory in the primary positions him to vie for a seat in the Senate once again, following his tenure as governor.
The primary election, conducted by the APC in Imo State, saw Uzodimma emerge as the sole candidate after meeting all party requirements. With the ticket in hand, he now prepares for the general election, where he will contest against candidates from other political parties for the Imo West senatorial seat.
