Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has singled out Jadon Sancho as the biggest flop in the club’s history. The Frenchman, who scored 42 goals for the Red Devils, expressed his frustration over the winger’s inability to replicate his Borussia Dortmund form at Old Trafford.
Sancho joined United in 2021 for a fee of around £73 million but managed only 12 goals in 83 appearances. He was subsequently loaned to Dortmund, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. Despite still being under contract, he is expected to leave permanently this summer when his deal ends.
Saha admitted he had high hopes for Sancho, calling his decline a “mystery.” Speaking to BetVictor, he said: “Jadon Sancho is the most disappointing signing in Manchester United history. The level he showed at Dortmund suggested he could achieve great things. But it didn’t work out, and that’s hard to understand.”
The former France international added that Sancho needs a fresh start, much like Marcus Rashford. “I was lucky to have played many games despite injuries. Sancho has had plenty of opportunities at a young age, and with his talent, I wish he had succeeded at Old Trafford. It’s really disappointing.”
Saha’s comments come amid a broader critique of United’s post-Ferguson recruitment, which has seen expensive flops like Paul Pogba, Antony, Romelu Lukaku, and Rasmus Hojlund fail to justify their price tags.
