Controversial media personality Daddy Freeze has addressed the backlash over his choice of outfit at the late actor Alex Ekubo’s service of songs. In an Instagram live session, Freeze argued that he did not view the occasion as a celebration, stating that the actor’s death was a tragic loss rather than a triumphant departure.
According to Freeze, he overlooked the dress code specifying white attire because it was placed discreetly on the invitation. He admitted his mistake but emphasized that his intention was not to disrespect the family. Instead, he felt that wearing black was more appropriate for what he considered a mourning event.
Freeze expressed sorrow over Ekubo’s untimely death, noting that the actor was younger than his own youngest sibling. He rejected the notion that Ekubo had fulfilled his purpose on earth, questioning whether anyone truly believed the actor’s work was complete. He compared Ekubo’s situation to that of Christ, who achieved significant milestones at age 33, and argued that Ekubo deserved more time to accomplish his goals.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Freeze stated that in his region, black or traditional attire is customary for funerals, making it hard for him to comprehend the white dress code. He apologized to those who felt offended but maintained his stance that a service of songs should not have a festive dress code. “I was not going for a party,” he declared, adding that the concept of white clothing for such an event seemed contradictory to him.
